Laura Taalman

Laura Taalman is a mathematician and professor at James Madison University whose work spans knot theory, the mathematics of puzzles and games and computational approaches to mathematical design in digital fabrication and the fibre arts. Also known online as ‘mathgrrl’, they create and share mathematical art, puzzles, pattern-generating apps and 3D-printable models for math geeks.

Ayliean MacDonald

Ayliean MacDonald has travelled the world spreading joy and a love for maths through art. Her maths videos have featured in film festivals in Canada and have gathered millions of views on TikTok. From large scale to hidden artworks, Ayliean has created a maths mural in Wall Street NYC but also produces badges, stickers and zines. Last year, in response to the discovery of a new prime number, Ayliean launched the ‘Can Humans Say The Largest Prime Number Before We Find The Next One’ project – a collaborative piece inviting everyone in the world to contribute to saying the world’s largest prime number out loud – all 42 million digits of it.

Sophie Maclean

Sophie Maclean is a mathematician and experienced maths communicator currently studying for a PhD in analytic number theory and additive combinatorics at King’s College London. When not discovering new maths, Sophie shares her love of maths with others by delivering talks and workshops all around the UK and beyond. She is a regular on the Numberphile YouTube Channel and has spoken about maths at the renowned Cheltenham Science Festival.

Nicole Cozens is a Maths teacher and exam expert who starred alongside Matt Parker on the BBC’s The Maths Show. She has been enthusing young people about maths and avidly marking their exams for 15 years. She also promotes the wonder of maths in her role with the Advanced Maths Support Programme and makes maths out of this world with her work at the National Space Academy.


Steve Mould

Steve Mould is a science YouTuber with 3.5 million subscribers. He has a masters degree in Physics from Oxford and was the science expert on Blue Peter for many years. Alongside Matt Parker and Helen Arney, he formed Festival of the Spoken Nerd, who perform sell out science comedy shows around the UK.

James Grime

James Grime has toured the world with his code-breaking talk and a genuine WWII Enigma machine. In his spare time, James creates videos about maths for Youtube – propelling him into an international maths celebrity with millions of views. He also invented the Non-transitive Grime Dice which now bear his name.

Ben Sparks is a mathematician and musician who travels the country demonstrating the beauty of maths and occasionally singing about it. He’s based at University of Bath and gets surprisingly passionate about maths, music, the maths of music and the music of maths. He is also a big fan of imaginary numbers, and you may have seen him getting excited about them (and other mathsy things) on YouTube on the Numberphile channel, and his own SparksMaths channel.

Matt Parker is a maths author and YouTuber who started out as a classroom maths teacher. His books Humble Pi and Love Triangle were both number one best sellers in the. But he’s probably most famous as a YouTuber; his channel Stand up Maths has 1,000,000 subscribers and his videos have had over 100 million views. He is currently on tour with his new show Getting Triggy With It.
